Last year I had the pleasure of photographing the iconic Oldham Art Gallery and Library designed by Pringle Richards Sharratt Architects It was for a calendar of the seasons and the building, getting up at 5 in the morning many times to get the right shot was fun, on my own wandering round the deserted town centre was lovely. It got me thinking about a personal project that I have since started, watch this space!
Our studio is in Saddleworth, a great area for a photoshoot. This bridal shoot was for a few local businesses who collaborated together brilliantly to help produce some great imagery. Credit to Eden Floral Art, Mia Abode, Adele Howarth-Winstanley Bridal and The Frostery
Recently Oldham Library hosted a great Cos Play event. I photographed the event for them and had the idea of setting up a studio for the participants to visit. My idea was to use an old masters background and light the subjects in a fairly low key way. The background was a bit of a risk I guess but I really wanted a contrast from the colourful modern characters, I’m pleased to say it really paid off and not the images are printed as large aluminium images, its the first thing you see as you enter Oldham Gallery and Library and they really do look the business.
