I’ve had the pleasure of working with Wilson McGladdery this great folk duo a few times for their publicity shots, I’m planning another shoot for them at the moment for their second book. This shot was taken during what photographers call ‘The Golden Hour” , I think you can probably see why.
If you are not familiar with light painting its photographic technique involving long exposure with the ‘painting’ part of using torches or other light sources, this image was taken using wire wool on fire. Its a single exposure with no Photoshop, all done in camera. This image of a racing Lambretta, taken at Mallory Park was for the newly formed Scootopia Racing Team, has been used as a cover shot for a magazine and also appears on the front of a bottle of a new 2 stroke oil.
Snooper are a worldwide company who supply dash cameras, radar detection and satellite navigation for professional drivers. Again like many of my shoots time and budget was an issue so this whole shoot including editing was completed in a day. The following are a small selection of the images. The challenge for this shoot was to light the inside of the car/van to balance the light inside the vehicle with the daylight outside and still give a natural look. View more for our blog
An email popped into my inbox recently from a new gents vintage clothing stockist. David who runs Common Ilk wanted to photograph his stock for online sales but wanted to do it in very high quality using studio lights. The only trouble was that he by his own admission had no real experience in photography. So after a consultation with myself David bought a decent camera and lens, some tuition later and David is shooting like a Pro. He has a keen eye for detail, hence his amazing stock of quality vintage menswear, he is now shooting creative images for online but also of the interior of his fantastic mill building/shop. Common Ilk is a new business and he needs a high quality website to show of his wares so we hatched a plan for a shoot to populate his website. It was a days work to shoot and edit, at the end of it I delivered 80 images. Not expensive at all for how his website is going to look is it? I’ll post his website when it goes live. Thank’s also to the great models Jim and also Jake from the band “The Darling Club”. View more […]
